Julian ‘Lefty’ Kam is one of the co-founders of Gilamon Studio an independent comics publisher that ws set up to publish the creative endeavours of the four cofounders: Julian ‘Lefty’ Kam, Chin Sau Lim, Michael Chua, and Tan Eng Huay. The four friends met while on the job while working in Artsquare, a company handling the publications of multiple comics and magazines. Though they were already in the comic industry they craved for an outlet to express some of the ideas and creativity they had, and Gilamon Studio was formed. Julian has partnered with the other founders of the group and published comics series like: Major Zombie, Six, and Jimi Germ, each has been well received and even received great reviews. Jimi Germ has also won an Intellectual Property Creators Challenge (IPCC) grant from the Multimedia Development Corporation - Malaysia (MDeC).
Beyond Gilamon studios, Julian has also been a part of the Marking George Town Project with the George Town Caricature Sculptures by Lefty. And his artworks can still be found on the streets of George Town. Having worked more than 10 years in the comics industry Julian looks forward for more collaborations with the other partners of Gilamon to publish more of the ideas that they have floating in their minds.
